What Is Juvelook? A New Standard for Tackling Skin Concerns at the Root

What Is Juvelook?

Juvelook is a new, cutting-edge treatment designed to address a wide range of skin concerns by targeting their root causes. Its key ingredient, polylactic acid (PLA), is a biocompatible substance approved by the U.S. FDA and commonly used in surgical sutures and graft materials. Once injected, it gradually dissolves over 1 to 2 years and does not remain in the body as a foreign substance.

When Juvelook is injected into the skin, it stimulates the production of collagen fibers around the polylactic acid particles. This promotes skin elasticity and volume restoration. The formulation specifically designed for improving skin elasticity is called Juvelook, while the one for restoring volume is referred to as Juvelook Volume or Lenisna.

Juvelook Ingredients & Effects

The active component in Juvelook is polylactic acid (PLA). Once inside the skin, PLA induces collagen production around the injection site. This increase in collagen helps minimize pores, reduce wrinkles, improve skin thickness and tone, and alleviate redness.

Juvelook Volume contains a higher concentration of PLA and is used to treat deeper depressions or hollow areas, such as sunken temples, nasolabial folds, and gaunt cheeks.

Ideal Candidates for Juvelook

Juvelook is effective for general skin quality concerns—excluding pigmentation issues caused by melanin, such as dark spots. It can help with enlarged pores, fine lines, sagging, and dullness.

Procedure Overview & How to Book

During a consultation, a specialist will determine whether Juvelook or Juvelook Volume is more suitable for your specific concerns.

For Juvelook injections, a numbing cream is typically applied before the procedure to minimize discomfort. After cleansing, the cream is left on for 20–30 minutes. Injections are administered manually, and due to the large particle size of Juvelook, a relatively thick needle (around 30G) is used. Since thicker needles may cause more pain, anesthesia is strongly recommended. If topical anesthesia isn't enough, laughing gas (nitrous oxide) may also be used.

Juvelook Volume is administered using a blunt-tipped microcannula, and most patients feel discomfort only when the cannula entry point is made. In many cases, no anesthesia is needed. The product is injected strategically into areas with volume loss.

Results & Skin Improvements

How Juvelook Resolves Skin Issues
As we age, collagen levels naturally decline, leading to a loss of elasticity and the development of wrinkles and sagging. Juvelook restores youthful, firm skin by boosting collagen production.

Improving Acne Scars
Acne scars generally fall into two categories: pigmentation and textural irregularities. While pigmentation is usually treated with photofacials or microneedle RF, Juvelook is effective for improving uneven texture by regenerating the skin through collagen induction—offering long-lasting, if not permanent, results.

Addressing Wrinkles and Pores
Juvelook is highly effective for wrinkles and enlarged pores caused by reduced skin elasticity or volume loss. However, wrinkles caused by muscle movement may require Botox, and pores emphasized by thick hair may benefit from hair removal treatments alongside Juvelook.

Stimulating Collagen Production

Polylactic acid works by causing a mild, controlled inflammatory response, which in turn triggers natural collagen synthesis. To avoid overstimulating the skin, treatment is typically spaced out in three sessions, one month apart. Over the course of 1 to 2 years, the PLA is fully broken down into water and carbon dioxide, leaving behind your body's own collagen.

What Is Manual Injection?

Manual injection (often called “hand injection”) refers to the method where a physician uses a syringe to inject Juvelook by hand. This allows for precise placement, even in delicate areas like under the eyes.

Different Injection Techniques

In addition to manual injection, a hydro-injection device may be used by trained nurses to inject small amounts evenly across the skin. However, this method cannot be used under the eyes.
Note: Juvelook Volume must be administered manually and cannot be injected via device.

Pain and Downtime

After injection, small red marks may remain for 2–3 days, and slight swelling or bumps may be noticeable for about a day. If bruising occurs, it can last up to two weeks.

Side Effects and Risks

The primary risk is the formation of nodules or lumps. This can be avoided by thorough mixing during preparation and injecting small amounts gradually.
